The first course at Punta Perla is to be designed by Colin Montgomerie and European Golf Design. The course will extend to over 6,600 metres (over 7,200 yards) from the championship tees, playing to a par of 72, with ten par 4’s, four par 3’s and four par 5’s. The end goal is to create a course that will rival the esteemed golf courses of the Punta Cana area, the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean region. The integration of the golf course with the surrounding residential development has been a key aspect of the design development process. European Golf Design has worked closely with the developer to create safety margins and distances that allow residents to achieve an attractive outlook onto the course and to feel visually connected to its beautiful open space, but that maintain onlookers far enough away so as not to feel in danger from stray shots.
